Cookie Policy

The short version

ThunderCV itself needs no cookies to work. There is no login, no session and no server-side copy of your resume, so nothing about your document is stored in a cookie. The cookies you may encounter come from analytics and, on some pages, advertising.

1. Consent comes first

No analytics or advertising script loads until you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit. Decline and none of it is fetched at all — every tool on the site keeps working, because none of them depends on a cookie.

2. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser. It can be read back on later visits, which is how sites recognise a returning browser. Related technologies — localStorage, pixels and device identifiers — work similarly and are covered here too.

3. Cookies used on this site

Strictly necessary

None. The resume builder, the ATS checker, the JD matcher and the cover letter builder all run entirely in your browser's memory and set no cookies of their own. Blocking cookies completely will not stop any of them from working.

Local storage

We keep a few small values in your browser's own storage, not in cookies. None of them is used for tracking, none is shared, and clearing this site's data removes all of them.

• Your cookie choice, and whether you have left or dismissed a review.
• Your resume, while you are working on it — held in session storage so a reload does not lose it, and cleared when you close the tab. It is not sent anywhere.
• If you have bought a download: a receipt for it, and a random identifier for this browser. Both are explained in our Privacy Policy; the identifier is a random number, not a fingerprint, and means nothing to any other site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count page views and see which tools get used. It records the page visited, approximate region at country or state level, device type and referring site. It does not receive the contents of your resume. Typical cookies: _ga and _ga_*, which expire after up to two years.

Advertising

Some pages may display ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies to limit how often you see an ad, to measure performance, and — unless you opt out — to personalise which ads you see. Google's own description of this is in its advertising technologies notice. Ad networks never receive your resume, because it is never uploaded anywhere.

4. Turning cookies off

• Personalised ads: opt out at Google Ad Settings or optout.aboutads.info. You will still see ads, just less targeted ones.
• Analytics: install Google's opt-out add-on, or block third-party cookies in your browser.
• Everything: every major browser can block or delete cookies in its privacy settings. ThunderCV will continue to work normally.

5. Do Not Track

Browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal inconsistently and there is no agreed standard for honouring it, so we do not rely on it. Use the opt-out links above instead — they work.

6. Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
